Welcome to our new blog!

Hi Everyone,

Amanda has set up a new blog site for us. I hope you will check this out often and leave comments and questions.

We are working on the next issue of Pocket Change. I am looking forward to reading Mary’s tips and recipes. The subject is “sneaky ways to save money.” Do you have any unusual and successful savings tips you would like to share? Please send them along.

We are busy planning a kickoff for National Entrepreneurship Week. This will be held at Embassy Suites in Newark on Saturday, February 23. Register online for this exciting free event featuring experts on all phases of business startup. There will be $300 worth of gift cards for doorprizes. Lots of giveaways. Hope you will join us.

Purses to Portfolios has now launched in Philadelphia! Eva and I attended the kickoff event starring our own Alisha Adams. Evonne even drove up from Virginia to attend and we saw about a dozen of our Delaware Purses’ women. Treasurer’s Circle Dianne and Libby helped with registration. Please stay tuned for Philadelphia events to which you will be invited! Hours at these events count for our program and vice versa!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi Ronni,
Great that you’ve added a blog. What a great way for PURSES participants to learn and share when we are not in class.
Wow, the next PURSES event will soon be here.

    Hi Ronni,
I really want to share how much I enjoyed myself at the launch for Purses in Philadelphia. For everyone who could not attend they really missed a memorable event. It was so cool to actually meet Traci Davidson of NBC, she was so warm and down to earth and has a genuine concern about women and their finances. There were so many women who just wanted to share their ideas, thoughts and concerns about when there would be another forum like this so they could bring their girlfriends, sisters daughters and mothers. This was truly a rewarding experience to share experiences and to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and now a venue in their area for financial education. I am so excited for the women of Philadelphia, they now can get a taste of the treats we have here in Delaware thanks to The Money School.

Great Job Amanda! I am excited about becoming involved with Purses to Portfolios; especially as the courses keep me financially ‘fit’. This site was a fantabulistic idea and innovative.

    Ronni,

I love the Delaware Money School programs! I have learned so much. Before the classes and the newsletter I had terrible credit due to a nasty divorce and no discipline whatsoever when it came to saving money. I now trade stock, own mutual funds, have an automatic savings plan set up to add weekly to my savings. I have learned to budget and my credit is so much better now. I also have a 401k plan through work that I increase my contribution to every single year. My goal for the 2008-2009 year is HOMEOWNERSHIP!

I could have never done any of this without the inspiration of the Delaware Money School!

    Thanks Ronni & Staff!

Congratulations! I love the idea of a Blog! Thank you everyone at the Delaware Money School, if we could carry you everwhere we go, and in everything we do, we would all be financially “fit.” Keep up the good work.

    Thank you!

I really enjoyed the kickoff because I felt like it was geared to women at any level. I wanted to add that a good sneaky savings for Mary’s tips deals with phones. We were paying for our home phone and two cell phones. We downsized our home phone to only accept incoming calls, and we do all our outgoing calls on the cell phones. I think we ended up saving about $40-50/month. Every bit helps as you say. :)

  7. Sharon Says:

    Hi Ronni,
Great comments on the blog. Leslie’s idea about downsizing is great but be sure to tell everyone to keep their cellphones charged in case on an emergency.
See you at the First State Saves!
    Sharon
